BK Breakfast – Double Croissan’wich Meal + BK Iced Mocha Joe

Welcome to the first of three posts of our day trip to Washington State.  Wendy and I decided to go down there and see what we can pick up before the Memorial Day weekend.  We rushed to the border, but hopelessly knew that we couldn’t last the trip without a good breakfast to power the drive.  Heading towards the southbound entrance to Hwy 99, we quickly dropped by the Burger King located in Ironwood Mall.  The drive-thru was our preference this time.  Wendy has never tried Burger King  (not that she remembers) breakfast before, so I thought this was a perfect chance for her to try it.  FYI, it is definitely better than M’s stuff.

The Double Croissan’wich – the star of the meal.  It consists of eggs, sausage, bacon and that melted, stretchy cheese you see in the picture.  The “croissant” part of the sandwich was quite warm which made it taste even better.  The reason why I particular prefer BK breakfast sandwiches over M’s is that BK makes an effort to make and keep it hot when they serve it.

Hashbrowns, the quintessential part of a western breakfast, are loved by everyone I know.  I prefer these over fries any time of the day.  BK does it a bit differently that M’s as they created bite size hashbrown ‘pucks”.  Wendy loved them as they were very “cute”.  It’s easy to eat, althought I must say that the hashbrowns from M’s do taste better.  Since we were on the road, I didn’t bother to use the ketchup provided and ate it all up as is.  So satisfying…

Another BK Promotional item:  The Mocha BK Joe Ice Coffee.  This was definitely the surprise item for the week for me.  I expected some bland mix with ice and was pushed as part of a promo.  I was dead wrong.  The Mocha BK Joe Iced Coffee was just the right amount of sweetness, strong enough coffee flavor and it came in a very big cup!  I was expecting the small cups that accompany M’s attempt at iced coffee in the recent months.  I am too pleasantly surprised and I give this item a big thumbs up!  Good job, BK!

All in all, a very satisfying breakfast to lead off the day.  Wendy was very content with the meal as well.  She also digs the Mocha BK Joe Iced Coffee.  So please, if you guys ever wake up early and don’t know what to do (breakfast ends at 11am at BK), then go on ahead to BK to give it a try.

A&W Mozza Burger

On a crazy windy, rainy night, Wendy and I decided to take our bi-monthly trip to Walmart.  After being starved for hours, I had a craving for a juicy burger.  So we went back to A&W.

Wendy started off with a fat, juicy Mozza Burger.  We chose not to get the sirloin despite massive temptation because we wanted to blog about something else! (Yes, the sacrifice we make for our readers!)

A great A&W meal cannot be come full circle without an order of their crazily-seasoned onion rings and root bear float.  Notice that the mug was so cold that the ‘overflow’ is actually frozen onto the cup..

Up close and personal with this onion ring.

BK King Deal Thursday – Spicy Chick’n Crisp

Oh boy, another work day, another BK day…

I’ll save the guilt trip to myself…at least I’m not getting the whole combo…

So obviously, Thursday’s $1.99 deal is the Spicy Chick’n Crisp.

Again this was a nicely assembled sandwich.  It’s about the size of a whopper jr.  I think the bun’s the same.

Inside there’s mayo, lettuce (they taste sort of sweet…), and the chicken patty.  I think it’s basically like the chicken sandwich from McD’s.

You can see the patty is seasoned.  I guess red means spicy.

BK Burger Shots

Yep…this would be my 3rd fast food post in 2 weeks…all from Burger King…

SO…I tried the uber cute Burger Shots this time.  It was a late-night thing…I was hungry.  It’s $1.99 for 2.

Fits in the palm of my hand!  Isn’t it cute?

They’re pretty simple.  Just regular hamburgers, just mini-sized.  There’s a patty, a slice of pickle, ketchup, mustard.

The bun is nice, soft and fresh.  There’s too much bun and too little meat though…wish either the patty was a bit thicker or the bun thinner…

BK King Deal Monday – King Supreme

I’ve been a pig lately…consuming so much fast food…but hey I can’t help it if Burger King is on the way home and I’ve gotten so hungry lately after work… :-(

I was intent on BK though.  The Daily King Deal for Monday was the King Supreme.  I’ve never had it before, nor do I know what’s in it.  It was $1.99 for the sandwich itself.

And to my surprise it was assembled pretty nicely today.

It was a good deal I though.  It had lettuce, pickles, onions, cheese, and 2 patties.  The bun was fresh and soft, chewy.  The special sauce was tasty.  This may be BK’s version of the Big Mac?  It’s really good.  I was satisfied and would definitely get it again.

BK Mushroom Swiss Steakhouse Burger

Originally since it was Wednesday, I wanted to take advantage of Whopper Wednesday and get a Whopper.

However, as I pulled near the drive-thru window, the big huge advertisement for the BK Mushroom & Swiss Steakhouse Burger caught my eye and it was too enticing to pass up.

So I gave up the $1.49 Whopper and splurged on the much more $$$ Steakhouse.

I could’ve behaved and had the burger by itself.  But no, I had to get the “Value Meal”.

Good thing they had good fries.  Having worked at a BK before, I totally knew how ghastly the fries would’ve been if they have used old oil.  These were a nice pale golden color, tasted fresh, with no hint of old oil.  I’m usually partial to McD’s fries but these were seriously not bad.

Even before I opened the wrap I could smell the “flame-broiled”ness.

However, I must say, they did a pretty bad job on assembly.  They could’ve used a bigger bun ie. the Whopper bun but they had to use the Whopper Jr. bun.  Honestly, it doesn’t take that much effort to make a burger look presentable.  Whoever assembled must really not care.

Dairy Queen FlameThrower

This is gonna be a short post.  I have had the flamethrower burger for many years and have always said it’s one of the best fast food burgers out there.  It is the ONLY burger I know of from the main fast food joints (M’s, BK, A&W, DQ, Wendy’s) that actually has some ZING in it.

There are TWO choices.  1/4lb version or the 1/2lb.  I was not that hungry and it was almost 10PM so I decided to get the smaller one.  It came to $4.29+taxes (1/2lb was $5.55+taxes).  I do plan to do a more extensive review of DQ in the near future, but this is a quickie.

Now, we’ve all seen the DQ commercials of the patrons breathing fire on each other.  But I assure, it just did not happen:

The reality of the experience was much more serene. lol

The bacon just puts this thing over the top.  The sauce has just the right amount of spiciness to it.  But because it was takeout and I had to wait until I got home to eat it, it was a bit cold.  I remember back in the day when I got it straight from the counter………….*drools*

Here’s the commercials for old-time’s sake.
