This is Part 12 of our New York Food Adventures! Check out the rest here!
AngryRussian and I had the pleasure of attending one of his best friend’s New York wedding. The simple but beautiful wedding and reception was held at the beautiful Toro NYC near Chelsea Market. The wedding was held in the main dining room and the reception was held in the private room.
In this post I’m just going to post pictures of the food and drinks with a short description when appropriate. Please note that the portion sizes are adjusted for the wedding and may not reflect normal dining sizes…I wouldn’t know as I’ve never dined there before!
First the drinks! Besides the usual Red and White, and bubbly wine, there’s also Red, White and Rose Sangria (above)! Behind it was the Pulpo a la Plancha which were delicious bites of grilled Galician octopus, basque oil, squid ink crème fraîche, crispy potatoes.
There were also special Signature Cocktails prepared for the wedding reception- “His” and “Hers” cocktails.
On the right is the “His”, made with herbed Boulevardier with Bourbon, Red Vermouth, Campari, and Fernet. The presentation was so cute.
It was STRONG.
And this pretty one is “Hers”- Gin, citrus cordial, flower (apple blossom) and Cava. Behind it is the Patatas Bravas which are fried potatoes with aioli and spicy tomato sauce.
Tartar de Atun – Yuzu, white soy, dashi alioli & crispy shallots. I love tuna tartare so this was right up my alley! There was a nice mix of textures in this dish.
Tortilla Española – Egg, potato & onion omelette with shishito peppers & aioli. This was a yummy frittata.
Hamburguesas – Mini dry-aged beef burgers, smoked tomato, aioli and pickled onion.
These mini burgers were cooked perfectly. I fully regret not having the stomach space to eat more of them.
And for dessert was churros!
So ya it was a lot of food. Unfortunately my seat was right under the vents so I was freezing most of the night and I was unable to fully enjoy all the food because I was so cold and shivering! Nonetheless the food was really good and I would not hesitate to come back for their regular fare!
