Cherry Fruit Juice & Icy Bar 利源冰店

Part two of Parker Place Food Court.

Now this was the same meal as when I had Pak Kee’s Pepper Salt Fried Chicken Nuggets with rice. For something that’s bound to induce a thirst, I gotta get a drink don’t I?

Cherry Fruit Juice & Icy Bar

Aside from the popular Pearl Castle to-go, my favorite drink place is from Cherry Fruit Juice and Icy Bar.  What does this place has to make me almost always bypass Pearl Castle?

Cherry Fruit Juice & Icy Bar: glutinous rice balls

These glutinous rice balls.  They have the taro ones and the regular ones.  These are the taro ones.

Cherry Fruit Juice & Icy Bar toppings selection

Basically, it’s like a drink because the bottom is filled with shaved ice (hence “Icy”) which melts.  You get a choice of 3 items.  Now you don’t have to get the rice balls but I get them all the time.  They’re the highlight of this treat for me.

Cherry Fruit Juice & Icy Bar: pandan jelly, almond tofu jello, and taro rice balls drink

In this particular combination, from the bottom is pandan jelly, almond tofu jello, and of course the taro rice balls.

First they’ll fill it with shaved ice, then add milk and coconut milk to it.  Perhaps some sugar syrup too.  Then, on top of the toppings, some evaporated milk and condensed milk.  YUM.

Also, they make the rice balls themselves!  They’re always chewy and sweetened.  I love it.  This is $3.50.  They also do the stamp card thing.

Another popular treat they have is the “8-treasure shaved ice”.  I think the name speaks for itself.  That comes in a bowl.

  1. I had the 4 treasure shaved ice bowl and was tickled pink because the small one was only $3. That’s a steal in my books.

At first, I was disappointed that the shaved ice was melting, but found that it blended well with the other fruit flavours (mango and strawberries) and it was quite refreshing to drink.

I think I’ll try your combination next, as I’ve never tried taro balls before. Sounds interesting.

  2. Hey Wendy,

Thanks for this, I rediscovered my childhood days spent eating in the food court with my parents at Parker! Went yesterday, $3.75 for a big bowl of icy with items I have long not seen… really hits the spot and left my feeling nostalgic. 🙂
