I always try to scope out a buck-a-shuck Happy Hour menu when we travel. For our Victoria trip I found Nautical Nellies Steak & Seafood House which is right by the water. Their Happy Hour menu is from 3pm-5:30pm everyday!
Nautical Nellies has more of a old-school steakhouse vibe. There’s dark wood everywhere and an overall darker ambiance. There’s even a fish tank in the dining room!
A selection of their cocktails during Happy Hour were only $6.50. I had a Long Island Iced Tea while AngryRussian had their Moscow Mule.
The drinks were delicious and refreshing and hit the spot.
The Buck-a-Shuck Oysters were chef’s choice, and there was a limit to 1 dozen per person. The way around that? Be in a relationship with someone that doesn’t eat oysters 😅
Here the oysters were not accompanied with the usual mignonette. Instead, it came with horseradish cocktail sauce, and a creamy looking sauce. I wasn’t interested so I just used the lemon and a bit of the horseradish cocktail sauce.
The oysters were briny like the sea! Very yum! I might’ve had 18 of them.
We also ordered their Lobster & Shrimp Potato Skins ($12). It came with a chutney type dip and also sour cream.
These were cheesy and had a good amount of filling, although it was hard to discern the lobster and shrimp. But that’s to be expected. They were average but a good snack.
Last but not least was the Cajun Popcorn Shrimp ($9). They were such a cute size and the batter was crispy and clean tasting, and was lightly seasoned with cajun seasoning. The dip also had some of the same spices and made for a refreshing touch to a crispy snack.
My favorites were definitely the oysters, everything else was just extras for me. I would definitely come back for the buck-a-shuck and cheap drinks! Yay for Happy Hour!
