Whenever I venture to the states to visit Aunt Aggy and Uncle Walken, I always ask that they take me for Korean food since I believe they actually have a better selection of casual Korean restaurants down there in the Washington area. This time they took us to Sahm Gook Jih Palace which is new to mom and I. Apparently they have really good Korean fried chicken. Their menu is pretty small but they also have some pretty good combos.
And here it is…the Deep fried Chicken in Special Chili Sauce ($9.99 USD). The sauce was quite spicy actually, and there was way too much of it. There was also either too much batter or the chicken was pre-fried as the crust was a bit hard. But this was very popular as almost every table ordered it.
I really wanted some Ja Jang Myun and Sahm Gook Jih had a great combo of a half order of Ja Jang Myun, full order of Noodles in Spicy Sauce with seafood and some fried dumplings for $7.99USD.
I’ve always loved the chewy texture of the noodles used in ja jang myun. The noodles here were the same. This was a meatless version but there were huge chunks of onions and lots of sauce so I didn’t mind it at all. The dumplings were filled with meat, but were nothing to write home about.
The Noodles in Spicy Soup that came with the combo was huge. There was actually tons of ingredients in it and was really yummy, but a bit spicy for me. I would’ve had more if my mouth could handle it…so I stuck with the ja jang myun instead.
Great little place. They get quite busy pretty quickly though. Below is their little menu for reference =)
