Update Jan 3, 2013: This restaurant is now closed.
Boyfriend and I enjoy going to West Lake because they’re open late, and they have Afternoon Tea/Late Night menus that includes a drink. They also make decent food and service is pretty ok, considering it’s a Asian-ran restaurant.
Prices are among the best in Vietnamese food in my opinion. A full course dinner for $13??? Deal!!
A noodle dish and and drink runs you just under $7!!
Tonight we decided to get one of each set. We both chose the House Special Noodle. The soup, though clear, was quite flavorful. As always I ask for extra cilantro and they didn’t skimp on that.
I’ll have to say though, the quality of their beef vary each day. A few nights ago when we went, it was fabulously tender. Tonight, they were more tough.
With the full course dinner set, we chose B15 for the side, which consists of spring rolls and shrimp tofu. I’ve always loved the spring rolls here. They’re authentically Vietnamese (made with rice paper wrapping, large and thick). I’ve been to some places where the spring rolls look like Chinese dim sum ones, a no-no in my book.
The shrimp tofu are something else. I’ve never seen them anywhere else. Basically they’re deep-fried shrimp paste triangle and they’re so soft and good. We pick this combo everytime we get the full course.
Our drinks were the cold Ovaltine and Red Bean Milkshake. It’s extra for the milkshake but Boyfriend really loves it. It it quite good to tell you the truth, very thick and red bean-y.
For dessert it’s the Creme Caramel/Flan you see above. I quite like this also. It’s not over sweet but it’s rich and yummy.
If you haven’t tried it I think Pho Lan on #3 Road is far superior
Oh I have…I find that place has an unappetizing odor…
West Lake HAS NOT CLOSED, they have moved location to #3 Rd in front of the Superstore. I love this restaurant. Its clean, decorated nicely, and there is a patio option for sunny days. They are super friendly, the food is always amazing, and the price is unbeatable. I am a fan!
